Upon completion of medical school, I returned to Nashville from the University of California, San Diego, to complete my orthopedic training at Vanderbilt. My career has been an interesting meld of the clinical private practice of orthopedics and medical management. I have served as chief medical officer of a large tertiary hospital as well as VPMA of a publicly traded health care company. I currently work full time as Medical Director of Medical Evaluation Specialists - a privately held company specializing in independent medical examinations and medical peer reviews. We are the largest such company in the nation. I have been involved with numerous professional organizations and served as the president of the American College of Physician Executives in the mid 90's. Rita (Davis) and I celebrated our 40th anniversary this summer by taking our daughters, Gail and Stephanie, and their husbands, on an Alaskan cruise - what fun…what a bar bill!!! It was probably our tenth cruise….we've been all over the world. We continue to enjoy golf, travel, family and wonderful friends. And I've got to mention our granddaughters, Shelby 12 and Grace 4, who belong to Steph and Lonnie and live in Allen, TX, just north of our home in Dallas. The picture I sent is Rita and I at the Cape of Good Hope, one of the most magnificent places on the face of the earth. |
