I never liked talking about myself so this bio is going to be tough to do. Upon graduation from U. City, I went to
Mizzu for two long and grueling years. I did not like living in a dorm especially a temporary dorm and spent two
years being homesick!
At the end of those two years, I enrolled in the Teacher Education classes at Central Institute for the Deaf in St.
Louis and two years later (1961) received my BS degree from Washington University----with a degree in Speech
& Hearing. I fulfilled my life long ambition to be a teacher of the deaf and teach deaf children how to speack
and lipread. CID is one of the finest oral schools in the world (no sign language taught). In 1970, I received my
Master of Science degree from Washington University in Speech & Hearing. I have a lifetime teaching certificate
in speech & hearing from the state of Missouri and have belonged to a few professional organizations.
In my younger days, I presented papers and did some demonstration teaching at a few professional
conventions. I also spent a few summers teaching in California.
My career has been a long one and teaching speech is a passion of mine. I have shared my expertise with
many bachelor and master degree college students as well as mentor teachers in the area of speech. I taught
full time and nonstop for forty years (1961-2002), did speech tutoring during the summers and I’m still tutoring.
